Informative article once again Devin. I have thoroughly enjoyed Mr Gardner's work though have yet to read Never Send Flowers. Let's just say that the whole EuroDisney thing doesn't exactly inspire a huge deal of confidence.

"Critics rarely remark on how well written the James Bond stories are. I suppose that with a man as civilized and amusing as Mr Fleming, good writing is taken for granted."

Thank you. I hope you like it though, even with the Disney factor, I find this to be a good book.

Nice overview, although I've never read any of the books, the majority of the reviews are negitive. (Especially the Eurodisney thing huh.gif)

Great article on my favourite non-Fleming novel.

This is a terrific bit of trivia. I never knew this before so I checked my NSF paperback and, yep, sure enough, it's true.

The US paperback of Never Send Flowers includes a teaser for John Gardner's next original James Bond novel SeaFire, citing the upcoming villain as Sir Maxwell Lustig. However, the villain came to be known eventually as Sir Maxwell Tarn.

Wonder why the change? I like Lustig.

I liked Never Send Flowers. It was one of the first James Bond novels that I read, and I thought that it was a decent Bond adventure. Not sure about the whole EuroDisney thing, but it's good to see different ideas and settings in the Bond universe every once in a while.

I actually don't fancy the name Lustig. In Swedish "lustig" means "amusing", so for me that names just appears ridiculous. tongue.gif

I'd doubt it. Not that many knows Swedish, and SeaFire wasn't even released in Sweden. But who knows?
