All these new Bond books is a good sign, but it makes me wonder. Were these targeted to come out now because the authors and publishers thought there would be a new film out or just because Bond has steady popularity?

It also makes one wonder what will be in store next year when Casino Royale is ready for release (we hope).

I'm just amazed at all the Bond related books coming out. I know in another thread some of us older kids were reminiscing about how for the longest time the only book on Bond films was "James Bond in the Cinema" (1972/1980) followed by "The James Bond Films" (1981/1983) followed by "The James Bond Bedside Companion" (1984/1988). I guess I should mention Sally Hibbin's glorified press kit as well. And back then, you'd get these books as soon as you could and devour them.

Now, there's just a ton of books on all sorts of aspects and it makes you wonder if everything you could say about Bond hasn't already been said by now....twenty different ways.

I received my copy today. I have not had the chance to read any of it yet, but it looks like it should be a really good book!

It is a combination.

I wrote my book during the months before and after the release of DAD. It then took almost two years to sell it. It is difficult to sell a book with a movie tie-in because of licensing, because of the expense of illustration, and so on. But with a new movie coming out and media buzz in the air, new books have a better chance. So publishers are more likely to buy, and publishers who have already bought are likely to time their release to maximize on "coattail" publicity.

It's just like releasing new toys at Christmastime, or releasing movies in "Oscar season."

Seems to be a ton of books about James Bond being released these days. Is this just me?

This sounds cool though. Some of the "true history" is rather interesting. I caught Modern Marvel's
