This is only a selection of books out there Tanger, not all of them. I, for one, recommend the Bond Files as well.

Not really into the semi-offical fluff (e.g The Essential Bond) myself, all style and no substance. Much prefer Bond Films: Virgin Film, which is my pick from that page.

Kiss Kiss Bang! Bang! by Alan Barnes and Marcus Hearn is another interesting one.

Harmless, but deadly

Oh yes, I do like to read those kinds once in a while. Did you agree with many of their ratings though, Freemo?

Nice work Q! I really, really want to nab Bond Girls Are Forever!

My personal favorite is James Bond: The Legacy by John Cork.

S.P.E.C.T.R.E: The Special Executive for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion

Many thanks SPECTRE Assassin. Definitely pick that one up, it's a good one.

Nice list. I want Pfeiffer and Worrall to make an updated Essential Bond book.

Glad you liked it, indeed some great reviews.

I actually thought they did make an updated Die Another Day version.

Oh, it's not my favourite book by any means, if I were doing a list like yours I may not have put in either. Hardly essential, don't really need to have the gadgets given a rating out of 10 for example, but worth a look if you come across it in your travels. One of those books that work in a "I agree / I disagree" fashion, and also has info you may not haev read before.

It's been forever since I've looked at it, so I don't recall my general thoughts on their ratings were, though from memory they did look at Roger Moore's performance in The Man With the Golden Gun in a favorable light, which gets a thumbs up from me.

I really like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, not so much for the personal ratings but for the information it offers. There's some really nice tidbits in the individual film sections I haven't read other places along with some good general reviews of what critics wrote at the times of the films' releases.

The personal ratings are pretty secondary compared to that, but a couple of their comments made me think -- such as revealing what a lack of action there really is in Goldfinger compared to the other films.

Good point Turn. It's kind of surprising that it's one of the lesser known Bond books.
