When oh when will someone transfer this to DVD so we can see the complete version in Europe. I've uncovered the Spy Guise VHS before but that is in NTSC format, useless to us here in Europe. Spy Guise were planning to release a DVD but dropped it and now the only version on DVD is the incomplete one on the MGM DVD.

Perhaps it's possible to get the VHS and somehow get it transferred onto a DVD (your own region)? Of course a professional company wouldn’t do such a thing with copyrighted material… so the trick is finding someone who has that kind of equipment.

I think it's appropriate to celebrate this for the curiosity it is -- the first filmed Bond segment ever. Other than that, it's almost worthy of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I showed it to some friends at a holiday party a few years ago and they hooted the whole way through it.
As far as complete versions, I'd much rather see missing scenes from the original series or a director's cut of NSNA some day. ![]() "You didn't think I'd miss this performance, did you?"

I've seen the Casino Royale DVD version a few times, but I don't really have any interest in seeing the full version. I can't imagine it's missing more than 1 minute at most.

No, it's not much more, but it's a good buy if you're up for it. As shown in this article, I grabbed it.

Despite the shortened ending I always chuckle when I see the end credits. It appears that Michael Pate played some character called Letter.

QUOTE(Turn @ 21 October 2004 - 16:17) I showed it to some friends at a holiday party a few years ago and they hooted the whole way through it. Even so, it's so much more superior to the later Casino Royale (1967) film. Plus Peter Lorre makes for a damn fine villain. ![]() |

It's certainly more relevant to Fleming's novel than the 1967 romp.

I'm afraid I'll just have to take the opposite side and say I really enjoy the goofy, colorful mess that was the 1967 version. A lot going on in that even if you don't know what the hell is going on.
At least with that one you know its intentions. You've got a guy called Little Jimmy Bond you know you can't take serious. In the '54 version, we've got a guy called "Card sense Jimmy Bond," saying lines like "That was close" and acting more like a hard-boiled private eye than a suave secret agent. That doesn't exactly say Fleming to me. As far as period time capsules go, I go for the swinging '60s over of the staid Eisenhower era anytime. ![]() "You didn't think I'd miss this performance, did you?"

I enjoy the TV Casino. It's fun to see all the Bond elements in place and working, more or less, on such a small scale.
Nice work on the article Qwerty. ![]() |

As an historical curiosity I'd like to see this in as complete a version as possible. I confess the thought of an American 'Jimmy' Bond just makes me laugh but to see Peter Lorre in a Bond movie would still be cool.
Oh and as for the MGM Casino Royale, tickles my ribs every time. Austin Powers eat your heart out! ![]() 'Just taking the Aston Martin out for a spin Q.'

The 50th Anniversary would've been a great oportunity to release the full version.

At least there is the SpyGuise version, but on DVD would be nice.
