Michael Kamen has passed away of a heart attack, I just read it over on Film Score Monthly. Kamen of course did the score for License To Kill. His last score released was Open Range. He will be missed.

What?!!? This is the first I've heard! This should be main page news, perhaps one of the staff members could arrange this? Although not my favorite score, Licence To Kill does have it's parts. (And Kamen really looks like he loved doing the score for a Bond film) -(check out the Music doc on the AVTAK DVD)

He will be missed.

That is too bad. frown.gif Just the other day I came across the thread that said he was seriously ill, and I just knew what was to come.

RIP Michael Kamen.

The main theme to Band of Brothers was truly moving. A true artist.

This is really a damn shame! Kamen was a very gifted composer who could write for just about any kind of film. His score for Die Hard was one of the few scores that truly got me into collecting film soundtracks, and ultimately composing.

Both him, and his music will be missed.

Yes, his DIE HARD score is terrific. I also think he did great work on LICENCE TO KILL. Every time I watch the film I come away feeling more impressed with his music - in fact, I've come to regard the LTK score as one of the best of the series, and certainly the best non-Barry score.

And what a heck of a filmography he had! Check it out: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004383/.

Very sad news, especially as he was only 55 years old.

That's a true shame, condolences to his friends and family. LTK was one of my favortite scores, and his work on movies like the Lethal Weapon and Die Hard series' was very good.

I saw this on Film Score Monthly after being away from the net all day, and I hated to be the one to break this to people, but here I did it...

Open Range was a great score he did. He went out on top. LTK is not bad. Better than Martin, better than Hamlisch. Hell, probably better than Conti.

I put up a story on the main page:

Composer Michael Kamen Dies

Very sad. The thoughts and prayers of all the staff of CBn goes out to his loved ones.

I'm very shocked and saddened by this news. I cannot believe that he's died. I know a lot of people with MS and they go on forever.

Well, his number must of been up and I'm very glad that it included 007.

Cheers,

Ian

In a way this has come as a shock, but I knew of his declining health. I didn't think he would die this soon. He will be very much missed. It's always very tragic for people to die early but 55 is way too early.

Rest In Peace Michael Kamen.
