Rory Kinnear To Play Bill Tanner

As the BBC revealed today, British actor Rory Kinnear has been casted to play Bond’s ally Bill Tanner in Quantum of Solace. Bill Tanner is an original character created by Ian Fleming and already featured in four previous James Bond Films.

In 1974’s The Man With The Golden Gun, Tanner was portayed by Michael Goodliffe, in 1981’s For Your Eyes Only by James Villiers and in GoldenEye (1995) and The World Is Not Enough (1999) by Michael Kitchen.

The BBC reports that the crew was "shooting close-ups of M as she speaks to her assistant Tanner" while reporters visited the set yesterday.

Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond 007 film produced by franchise holders Eon Productions. Daniel Craig returns from 2006’s Casino Royale to play James Bond. Quantum of Solace is directed by Marc Forster and scripted by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis. The MGM/Columbia Pictures production began shooting on 2 January and is scheduled for release on 7th November 2008.

The film co-stars Mathieu Amalric, Olga Kurylenko, Anatole Taubman, Gemma Arterton, Joaquín Cosio, Dame Judi Dench, Jesper Christensen, Giancarlo Giannini, and Jeffrey Wright.
