Halle Berry spin-off cancelled by MGM
Written by Paul Dunphy on 26 Oct, 2003
ComingSoon.Net and Variety have reported that the spin-off Jinx film has been cancelled (apparently) at MGM’s request.
The film, which was supposedly to de directed by High Fidelty and Dirty Pretty Things helmer Stephen Frears has been nixed, according to ComingSoon “much to the apparent dismay of Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson at Eon.”
The film (which has received mixed greetings from Bond fans) was to be released before Bond 21-due in November 2005- and was being written by current Bond scribes Neal Purvis and Rob Wade.
Last week MGM supposedly “told Eon to stop work on the project and press ahead instead with Bond 21.” This will come as a shock to fans as this is the closest Eon have come to making a spin-off since the rumours back in 1998 concerning a Wai Lin film (which didn’t even have a script).
Many thanks to Loomis and kilkenny kid for the tip-off, please feel free to discuss the news in this thread of the, now apparently unneccessary Jinx Spin-Off forums.
