Happy 55th Birthday, Pierce Brosnan!

Pierce Brendan Brosnan, the fifth man to portray the suave and sophisticated James Bond, turns 55 years old today. All of us here at CommanderBond.net would like to wish him a wonderful Happy Birthday filled with much happiness.
Pierce Brosnan - Timeline
- 1953: Pierce Brosnan was born in Navan, County Meath, Ireland on May 16. (the same year as the first publication of Casino Royale - April 13).
- 1964: He left Ireland at the age of 11 to join his mother in the UK on August 12th (the same day of Ian Fleming’s death). Later that year the very first film he saw was Goldfinger.
- 1980: Pierce Brosnan Married Cassandra Harris on December 27 (1952-1991: there is a whale watch memorial dedicated to her in Malibu, CA.), She had two children previously, Charlotte & Christopher, who Pierce adopted.
- 1981: Cassandra Harris portrayed Countess Lisl von Schlaf in For Your Eyes Only.
- 1982: He moved to Los Angeles, CA. to star along side Stephanie Zimbalist in the tv series Remington Steele (1982-1987), which ran for 4 seasons and 92 episodes.
- 1983: He had his first child, Sean, with Cassandra Harris.
- 1986: He was originally chosen to play James Bond in The Living Daylights, but a last minute renewal of his Remington Steele contract prevented this.
- 1991: He was chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world.
- 1994: Pierce Brosnan was unveiled at a huge press conference in London on June 8th as the 5th James Bond.
- 1995: He finally got his chance to play James Bond in GoldenEye which grossed over $350 worldwide.
- 1996: He was again chosen by People magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world.
- 1997: He returned as James Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies (during filming he got a scar above his top lip when he was accidently hit by a stunt man). He had his second child, Dylan Thomas, with girlfriend Keely Shaye Smith. And on December 3rd Pierce Brosnan received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame which can be found at 7021 Hollywood Blvd.
- 1998: His production company, Irish DreamTime, released it’s first film, The Nephew. Since then Irish Dream Time has released The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), The Match (1999), Evelyn (2002), Laws of Attraction (2004) and The Matador (2004). Also this same year he became a grandfather when Charlotte gave birth to a daughter, Isabelle Sophie.
- 1999: Pierce Brosnan returned a third time as James Bond in The World is Not Enough.
- 2001: Pierce Brosnan was voted the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine. Also this same year he has his 3rd son, Paris Beckett, with soon to be wife, Keely Shaye Smith. He hosted Saturday Night live on May 5. And then on August 4th he married Keely Shaye Smith in Ireland.
- 2002: Pierce Brosnan returned as James Bond in Die Another Day, for the franchises 40th Anniversary. His 4 Bond films have grossed over $1.6 Billion worldwide.
- 2003: He was made an ‘Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire’ in July by Britain’s ambassador to Ireland, Stewart Eldon, for his films and charitable work.
- 2004: He was the voice of James Bond in EA’s James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing, video game. Pierce Brosnan’s official web-site, PierceBrosnan.com was launched on March 1st.
- 2005: The Matador premiered at The Sundance Film Festival. And Pierce announced via his web-site that James Bond was now behind him.
- 2006: Work began on the psychological thriller Butterfly on a Wheel, while Brosnan announced that his production company is going full steam ahead on the sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)… The Topkapi Affair.
- 2007: Current and upcoming projects for Pierce Brosnan include Mamma Mia!, The Topkapi Affair and Caitlin.
- 2008: Mamma Mia! is scheduled for release in July, while Brosnan works on the following upcoming projects: The Topkapi Affair, Caitlin and Vanilla Gorilla.
