Nominations for the 54th Ivor Novello Awards were announced earlier today and David Arnold’s score for Quantum of Solace is included in the Best Original Film Score category.

Arnold’s score for the 22nd James Bond film will compete against composers Benjamin Wallfisch for The Escapist and Jonny Greenwood for There Will Be Blood.

The Ivor Novello Awards honour excellence in music writing. The 54th ceremony is staged by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) in association with PRS for Music and will take place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Thursday, 21 May 2009.

Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond 007 film produced by franchise holders Eon Productions. Daniel Craig returns from 2006′s Casino Royale to play James Bond. Quantum of Solace is directed by Marc Forster and scripted by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis (with an additional polish by Joshua Zetumer). Locations include Panama, Chile, Italy, Austria and the UK. The MGM/Columbia Pictures production began shooting on 2 January and was released on 31 October 2008 in the UK and 14 November in the United States. The world premiere took place on 29 October in London.

Quantum of Solace co-stars Mathieu Amalric, Olga Kurylenko, Anatole Taubman, Gemma Arterton, Joaquín Cosio, Dame Judi Dench, Jesper Christensen, Giancarlo Giannini, and Jeffrey Wright.
