Following up the news from earlier this year that John Orloff had been hired to pen Leonardo DiCaprio’s Ian Fleming biopic, it appears now that actors are being lined up.
According to Herald.ie, Dublin actor Peter Vollebregt has reportedly been asked to star in the film as Kevin McClory.
As many James Bond fans are already well aware, McClory was the producer of 1965’s Thunderball and 1983’s Never Say Never Again and one of the principal characters in the well-documented Thundeball court case.
‘It’s in the development stage,’ says Vollebregt, who became a contender for the role after meeting with DiCaprio (whose company, Appian Way, is handling production duties on the project) at an LA dinner.
‘My wife is a TV presenter and was doing a press junket thing for Blood Diamond, and I went over to LA with her. She was invited to a dinner and I went along.’
He continues: ‘It was a business dinner and I got chatting with Leo. He’s a really, really nice guy. There’s none of the big star thing about him. I mentioned that I knew Kevin McClory and that interested him.’
To date, there has been relatively little information released regarding the status of this biopic, which is simply titled Fleming. CommanderBond.net will keep you updated with all of the latest information as it becomes available.
